About me
Sam Turco graduated from Creighton University in 1989 with a degree in accounting and from the Nebraska College of Law in 1992. He represent clients in Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 bankruptcy cases throughout Nebraska and Iowa. He frequently writes on the topic of bankruptcy law.
Sam is a frequent speaker at CLE events and writes on consumer bankruptcy topics. He has been a member of the NACBA and the ABI for many years.
Sam believes that we can improve the bankruptcy practice by passionately sharing information with colleges. For example, he was inspired by signing a contract for a trash dumpster using DocuSign, and his subsequent blog posts, research and presentations into the use of digital signatures resulted in the Nebraska bankruptcy court being the first bankruptcy court to allow such signatures in 2018. It just goes to show that you never know where a great idea can come from.
During the Covid-19 virus, attorneys stopped going to court in person and all 341 hearings were moved to phone meetings. Although working from home can be great, something was missing. Interaction with our local attorneys was missing, and so he started a local chat group he called the 341 Hallway to renew relationships with attorneys you normally spoke to outside the 341 hearings. The shared information and feedback from attorneys helped humanize the bankruptcy practice by reconnecting lost relationships and channels of communication.
Outside of his legal practice, Sam is married to Kathy, a school counselor, and a father to three children. He is also an avid bike rider, gardener, family cook and dog walker.
